Uncommon Gifts

As you all know, I'm a big supporter of handmade businesses and creative enterprises, so when Uncommon Gifts got in touch to ask if I'd like to share my top three favourite gifts from their collection, it wasn't a hard decision to make.

If you're not already familiar, Uncommon Gifts is a fab online retailer based in Brooklyn, NYC. They feature unique jewellery, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts, which are created in harmony with the environment, without any harm to animals or people. It is their mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers. And in my books, that kind of support shown towards fellow designer/makers and artists is a huge plus!

So, with the challenge set to find three favourite gifts, I decided to focus on Christmas presents. As I haven't done one spot of shopping yet, I decided to see what gift ideas for men they have available because I don't know about you, but I always struggle to find that perfect gift for the guys!

Fortunately, it didn't long before I found the perfect gift for my brother, these Recycled Record Bookends , handmade by music loving artist, Jeff Davis. My brother is both a huge fan of music and reading, so if I were to add a book to these they would make a perfect Christmas present for him!

Next up on my Christmas shopping list is my uncle. He likes the odd tipple at Christmas, loves handmade gifts (being a craftsman himself) and he enjoys wearing fun accessories, such as brightly coloured hats and bow ties. So, I looked to see if there were other quirky handmade gifts for men available and look what I found! This awesome Reclaimed Whiskey Barrel Bow Tie. How cool is this! Handmade in Oklahoma, Adam Teague and Tim Paslay's rustic bowtie is made from reclaimed whiskey barrel staves. This actually couldn't be more perfect!

Intrigued to see if Uncommon Gifts could provide a hat-trick of unique gift ideas, I decided to see what they have in store for my Mum, who is a colour loving artist. I didn't have to go far before I found this beautiful Color Wheel Pendant, designed by artist Christine Schmidt. Need I say more? This is absolutely stunning and take a look at the packaging it's sent in, wow! I now want one for myself and all my colour loving friends!

I'm really impressed by the range of handmade gift ideas available at Uncommon Gifts, as well as the fresh style and layout of the website. I also loved how easy it was to navigate my way around the gorgeous selection of gifts designed by fellow artists and designer/makers; definitely a shopping platform to keep an eye on!
